My First Cake

When I was 14, I found a wonderful new television show to watch. "Cake Boss" is about Buddy Valastro and his family bakery. He makes the craziest cakes and I knew then that I wanted to make wonderful works of art like he does. So, for Christmas, my mom let me make my first cake for our family party. I was so excited! I looked online and watched several episodes of "Cake Boss'' until I figured out what I wanted to create. Since it was Christmas, I decided I would make Christmas boxes and stack them on top of each other. It turned out beautiful!

If ya, you know, ignored the fact that the bottom one was kinda falling apart. Hahaha
I had so much fun making this cake and learning new things. My favorite was making the bow out of fruit roll ups.

It's hard to imagine that with our extended family of about 27 people (that were there to eat it) that this whole cake wasn't eaten up. Turns out, my family isn't big cake eaters. So for now, I'll have to wait to make big cakes until I have my own bakery and am baking for hundreds of people. Until then, I'll just work on my technique and improve myself.

Here are some pictures of the whole process:
